12/1/2018 · We were excited to bring the Volkl 90eight skis into the fold of our testing crew. Unfortunately, we were mostly disappointed with this ski. We hoped that they might be a regular-camber version of the Volkl Aura that we loved in years past, but they’re entirely different. The regular camber aspect doesn’t seem to aid them much because it’s so subtle.
The 2020 Volkl 90Eight W returns unchanged for this year, and the general reaction is “awesome!” Skiers love the versatility and soft-snow performance of this one-ski quiver. With the 3D Ridge and 3D Glass construction, these skis have roughly the same build as the Flair series, but in a wider and more rockered package.
The 90Eight is stable and lively, and at 98mm in the waist, it is the ideal all-mountain ski that can handle anything: bumps, trees, groomers, and even powder and crud. It is so lightweight that it can also be mounted with a freeride binding (Squire, Griffon…) or a pin binding like the Marker Kingpin, for example.

8/6/2018 · Völkl’s techy 3D Ridge belongs to the latter tribe, with mass in the middle and sensitivity on the perimeter, making its rocker-camber-rocker profile easy to tip, grip, and rip. Testers loved the damp stability and predictability of the 90EIGHT W , but some felt it lacked playfulness and pop.
The 90EIGHT W is even lighter than the regular 90EIGHT and comes in sizes 155, 163 and 170, perfectly adapted to women’s demands off- and onpiste.
